Dedicata a San Rocco, fu edificata nel 1566, quando divenne autonoma da Carcegna; ricostruita nel 1627, il suo interno è a croce latina, a una navata, con numerose cappelle. Belli e di pregio i lavori in legno e in ferro battuto, il marmoreo altare seicentesco e i numerosi quadri e affreschi di Procaccini, Nuvolone, Bonola e Cantalupi, che danno a chi entra un immediato effetto di ricchezza e sontuosità. Notevoli esempi dell'arte minore tipica della zona cusiana sono il coro in legno scolpito e alcune cancellate in ferro battuto.

 

The church consecrated to St Rocco was built in 1566, after the parish of Miasino became independent from Carcegna; the church, reconstructed in 1627, has a latin-cross plan, with a single nave and several chapels. The outstanding features are some beautiful wooden and wrought-iron works, the 17th-century marble altar and a number of paintings and frescoes by Procaccini, Nuvolone, Bonola e Cantalupi, giving an overall effect of wealth and sumptuousness. Notable examples of local crafts are the carved wooden choir and some wrought-iron balustrades.

Imponente, per chi sale da Orta, si presenta la chiesa parrocchiale di Carcegna; fu riedificata in stile rinascimentale dal Biffi (1683) su una precedente chiesa romanica, le cui tracce sono visibili nel basamento del campanile (leggermente inclinato) e nell'abside semicircolare. Gli affreschi interni sono di epoca barocca.

 

Visitors arriving from Orta are struck by the imposing parish church of Carcegna. The church was reconstructed in the Renaissance style to plans by the architect Biffi (1683), on the remains of an existing Romanesque church. Fragments of the ancient building are still visible in the base of the campanile (slightly leaning) and in the semicircular apse. The frescoes on the interior date from the Baroque period

Posta al centro del paese, è ritenuta una delle più eleganti case di campagna del Lago d'Orta. Si compone di tre corpi di fabbrica, realizzati nel XVI, XVII e XVIII secolo, che costituiscono un insieme armonioso, di singolare eleganza e vivacità. All'originario corpo di fabbrica, con il prospetto sulla piazza, vennero aggiunti nel XVII secolo i loggiati e i porticati del cortile, costruiti da colonne in granito, sormontate da archi a tutto sesto o a sesto ribassato, con volte a crociera e architravati. Il terzo corpo di fabbrica, del XVIII secolo, presenta una parte sporgente che culmina in una balconata; questa nuova aggiunta fece sì che il cortile risultasse chiuso da tre lati. Notevole è l'armonia fra l'architettura e le ben conservate decorazioni a fresco che ornano le pareti esterne della villa con simulazioni dell'architettura o, come avviene soprattutto nel terzo corpo, con più fantasiosi soggetti. Il suggestivo giardino è ricco di piante secolari e fiori rari. La villa è oggi di proprietà dell'Università di Torino.

 

Located in the town center, this villa is considered to be among the most elegant manor houses of the lake Orta. It consists of three buildings, dating respectively from the 16th, the 17th and the 18th centuries, and forming a beautiful house, outstanding for its elegance and vivacity. The original house, overlooking the square, was enlarged in the 17th century with the addition of loggias and porticoes in the courtyard. The granite columns sustain round or depressed arches, cross vaults and architrave. The 18th-century building features a projection ending with a balcony, lining the courtyard on the third side. The architectural elements harmonize nicely with the well-preserved fresco decoration on the exterior; they depict architectural motifs and other ornamental subjects. The attractive garden boasts very old trees and rare flowers. Presently the villa belongs to the University of Turin.

L'oratorio di Santa Maria, situato nel centro di Miasino, fu realizzato all'inizio del XVIII secolo. Degne di nota sono le decorazioni novecentesche del Rinaldi, pittore di Ameno. Si segnala all'interno una pregevole Natività della Madonna, attribuita a Camillo Procaccini, pittore che operò tra l'altro per il Duomo di Milano.

 

The oratory of St mary stands in the center of miasino; it was built in the early 18th century. Notable are the 20th-century decorations by Rinaldi, a painter from Ameno. On the interior there is a lovely Birth of the Virgin Mary attributed to Camillo Procaccini, a painter who also worked for the Cathedral of Milan.

Realizzato all'inizio del XVII secolo, l'oratorio ha una pianta quadrangolare a navata unica, con porticato a colonne e archi sulla facciata. Le decorazioni di Leopoldo Rinaldi sono successive (fine Ottocento), così come la balaustra in marmo (1910) aggiunta fra il presbiterio e la navata.

 

Erected in the early 17th century, this oratory is built to a square plan and has a single nave; the façade features a portico with columns and arches. The decorations by Leopoldo Rinaldi date from a later period.
